XNBR Carboxylated Nitrile
Trade Name(s):
Carboxylated Nitrile | XNBR |
ASTM D1418 Designation: | XNBR |
Standard Colour: | Black |
Description:
Carboxylated Nitrile is Nitrile with a carboxyl group added to the formulation.
Key Use(s):
XNBR is mainly used for the following applications: Hoses, rubber belts, sealing parts, special purpose articles in oil well and reciprocating oil seals. This material is also ideal for rubber seals, gaskets, O-rings, roll covers, shoe soles, varieties moulded parts for shoe heels. It is specifically used for modification of the adhesives and epoxy resin.
Temperature Range:
Standard Compound: | -30°C (20°F) to 150°C (302°F) |
Hardness (Shore A): | 50 to 90 |
Features:
The carboxyl group is added to significantly improve the abrasion resistance of NBR while retaining excellent oil and solvent resistance. XNBR compounds provide high tensile strength and good physical properties at high temperatures.
Limitations:
XNBR is often specified for dynamic applications. However, for new applications Hydrogenated Nitrile is preferred over Carboxylated Nitrile. Not suitable for Brake fluids, Ketones, Ozone or weathering, Phosphate esters or Strong acids.
